Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and Receiving Social Security

Post viral fatigue syndrome is a chronic (ongoing, long-term), inflammatory disorder that is mainly neurological in its make up. Post viral fatigue syndrome is a multisystemic disease that involves your cardiovascular, immune, musculoskeletal, endocrinological and central nervous systems.

Post viral fatigue syndrome is a complex and debilitating disorder. It is evidenced by chronic physical and mental exhaustion.

Post viral fatigue syndrome takes place far more often in women than it does in men. In fact, two to four times as many women are diagnosed with this disorder as men are.

Post viral fatigue syndrome is known by several other names. Some of the other names that are used for this condition are myalgic encephalomyeletis (ME), chronic fatigue syndrome and low natural killer cell disease, just to name a few.

Possible Causes for Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome

The cause of post viral fatigue syndrome has not yet been found. However, there are several things that have been set forth as being possible causes of this disorder. Some of these are:

  • Ÿ  Some type of stubborn, persistent viral infection
  • Ÿ  Anemia (iron-poor blood)
  • Ÿ  Some kind of an environmental allergy
  • Ÿ  Candidiasis (a yeast infection that affects all of your body)
  • Ÿ  Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Ÿ  Mistaken attacks that are made by your immune system on your nervous system, musculoskeletal system and blood vessels.

If the last possible cause just stated is right, then it would mean that post viral fatigue syndrome is an autoimmune disorder. An autoimmune disease is a kind of disorder in which your immune system that normally attacks anything foreign that invades your body, for some unknown reason, attacks the tissues and cells of your own body.
