Regional Enteritis

Inflammation frequently occurs at the end of the small intestine that joins the large intestine, but the condition may affect any area of the digestive tract. As a result of the immune attack, the intestinal wall becomes thick, and deep ulcers may form. In order to qualify a claimant must have regional enteritis documented with x-rays or some other electronic techniques.

For this condition to be severe enough to meet the Social Security Administration's listing the claimant must have:

• Recurrent intestinal obstruction; OR
• Recurrent/Persistent arthritis, iritis, fever, or liver dysfunction, not attributable to other causes; OR
• Recurrent/Persistent arthritis, iritis, fever, or liver dysfunction, not attributable to other causes; OR
• Significant weight loss.
