Benefits Eligibility Screening Tool (best)
What is Benefits Eligibility Screening Tool (best)?
Definition of Benefits Eligibility Screening Tool (best)
The Social Security Administration created the Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool (BEST) to help claimants determine if they are eligible to receive Social Security Disability benefits. Based on the claimant's answers, the BEST will provide information about the types of benefits available for each claimant and information about how to apply. Information that the claimant must provide includes: the date of birth for the claimant and spouse, earnings information for the claimant, the date of the claimant's marriage and financial information for the claimant and their family. BEST does not ask for a claimant's Social Security number and can not provide it to the claimant. BEST does not have access to a claimant's Social Security records and does not provide a claimant's estimated Social Security Disability benefit amounts.
