What is Deemed Income?

Definition of Deemed Income

Supplemental Security Income benefits may be lowered by a claimant's income. Claimants whose income exceeds the federal limit can not qualify for Supplemental Security Income. There are several different types of income considered by the Social Security Administration including: earned, unearned and deemed income. Deemed income is used in the Supplemental Security Income benefit computation and is considered the part of the income of a claimant's spouse, their parent's or their sponsor with whom they live.
