What is Federal Benefit Rate?

Definition of Federal Benefit Rate

The Federal Benefits Rate, established by the Federal government, is the maximum dollar amount that a Social Security Disability claimant can receive and still qualify for monthly Supplemental Security Income cash benefits. Disability claimants applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) must also meet the resource limit established by the Social Security Administration (currently $2,000 per individual and $3,000 per couple). Cost of living adjusts or COLAs may be made annually.
