What is Heavy Work?

Definition of Heavy Work

The Social Security Administration considers all work which is rated about the medium exertional category as heavy. Heavy work includes all jobs which require claimants to lift up to or more than 100 pounds. Common heavy work includes construction work and construction cleanup. The Social Security Administration analyzes a disability claimant's physical residual functional capacity to determine if the claimant is able to do heavy work or if they must be limited to a job which can be completed with a lower physical exertional limit.
